Cure Alcoholism Best Advice — How to Treat Alcohol Addiction By David Smallwood

Spread the love

In this tutorial reformed alcoholic David Smallwood talks about how to treat Alcohol addiction. David outlines the reasons why people get addicted to alcohol and why, they can never treat or cure themselves and must seek professional help. In terms of drinking, an alcoholic builds up a tolerance which means as time moves on, he needs more drink to satisfy his addiction. This is true for any addiction and its a fact that many people have multiple addictions.

If you want to cure alcohol addiction, you should learn why people become addicted and it then becomes clear, you will never cure the addiction on your own. If you want to quit alcohol you can but you will need to get help to cure you. David knows what he’s talking about, after being an alcoholic he has now been free of the addiction for 25 years. A good intro on why people become addicted to drinking and how to cure the addiction.

So glad I’m not 12 step fellowships no more…..there is no disease!! And I’m not powerless over alcohol and drugs and it’s not the only way to stay clean and sober. It’s a religious organisation that want you to repent the sins of your past over and over and over again, and to be told you have an incurable illness! It’s a load of rubbish they turn you into victims that encourage the diminishing of responsibility by saying it’s your disease….lies lies lies. I’m an addict who can never drink or use nor do I want to or (choose to) to drink and use is a (choice) not a disease.

I started drinking at 16 due too a'lot of reasons and couldn't stop until i was 18 and realized i was flushing my life down the toilet. Been clean 10 months now and i have money in my pocket which is a nice change.

I have a problem. I am currently recieving counselling for my drinking dependency but I feel like I am only doing it to keep those around me happy. When I get a craving I consciously want to be drunk while still being aware that it is hindering my life. I want to be happy and sober but I just don't know how.

I have 3 grown kids. They suffer trauma.
My exwife years ago got 5 DUIs driving drunk. She hated AA meetings.
I feel the AA leaders came on to strong on her to quickly and she quit and drank till she destroyed every thing good. And she insist she is saved by grace.
I hate her like no other and her dad who is a very successful complete ass..

  28. zen 101

Try AA.. it works if your willing. I'm 14 years sober with AA. No drink, no drugs. I will always be an alcoholic, I can NEVER drink safely. I don't need alcohol nor drugs to make life any better. Never been happier after putting the 12 Steps of AA into my life.

  29. Picasso1975

Wow! I'm in the UK and am alcohol dependent and I've relapsed several times. I've been detoxed in hospital which fixed me for a while but after a while I've always slipped. The only options I've been given to prevent relapse are antibuse which makes you violently ill if you drink even a drop of alcohol, acamprosate which did nothing for me and group therapy which frankly has been the best of the lot. I'd never hear of nalmathene until now but I'm definitely going to look into it. Thanks Claudia, from a B5 fan. x

  33. mykul koplan

She misses the entire problem of alcoholism/addiction, or Alcohol Use Disorder. The alcohol, or drug, is just a symptom of the greater problem. If she doesn’t address the hole in her soul that leads her to drink she will not recover.
